Message from the Editor

May 11, 2013

As a prideful follower of St. James Football basically all of my life, to say that the last two years wasn't disheartening would be a vastly huge understatement.

As a new era at St. James begins, I call on each fellow member of our fan base to not only reunite but to also grow. The St. James fan base is one that when united becomes second-to-none. "One school, one community, and one heart beat" as former coach Donald "Rod" Rodrigue once stated in referring to the Wildcat fan base.

Newly hired Head Coach and Athletic Director Dwain Jenkins has already began his quest to reestablish the football team, the school, and the community. The football team will undergo their first assignment, when they host Miller McCoy in a scrimmage this Thursday evening (May 16, 2013) in Wildcat Stadium. Scrimmage start time is slated for a tentative time of 6:00pm

After being Booster Club president for eight years, I decided to step down before last season and Mr. Raymond Gros took over. Mr. Raymond is doing a fantastic job. Better than I ever did. He too is on a quest of reestablishment as he tries to get the Booster Club not only back to what it once was but to also build it further. Mr. Gros and Coach Jenkins will be on hand for a special "committee drive" booster meeting which will take place in the Wildcat Den (athletic building) next Monday evening (May 20, 2013) around 6:00pm. The purpose of this gathering will be to organize committees for various fund raising projects, many of which are innovative to our Wildcat community. Anyone who wants to get involved in any way, both small and large, is encouraged to attend this meeting.

As for this St. James Wildcats football web site that I still manage, my plan for now is to make the site as a hub of information. Along with a St. James Athletics Facebook page, a new YouTube channel was introduced just this week. There will be links to those sites from this web site. There will also be links to some of the media sites from the area.

I don't think I will commit to covering and writing every single game like I did in the past due to the hours involved. But I will try and do what I could. (And maybe write a game story or two along the way, sneak in some new backgrounds... who knows.) I may also explore going with a new layout and brining back a history section of the web site.
