"The All-Gaille Team"

The talk of an "All-Gaille" team began during a pre-game conversation between coaches at the Newman game in 2008.  Coaches Shane Kliebert, Eltonary Oubre, and Byron Keller created a ballot of nominees.

In summer of 2009, this ballot was issued to Coach Rick Gaille himself and the two coaches who been with Coach Gaille throughout the bulk of his tender -- Coaches Donald Rodrigue and Danny Shepard.

All three coaches filled out their ballots and then a "track-and-field" points system was used to select the teams.  10 points for a first-place vote, 8 points for a second-place vote, 6 points for a third-place, and so on.  Neither coach was allowed to associate with each other about their ballot selections.

THE FIRST TEAM

When viewing the results for the first time, we realized that there was no way we can leave Corey Webster on the bench throughout a game with this St. James team.  We created the "Utility Athlete" position because Levet no doubt had the quarterback position locked up with all 3 first-place votes.  Levet was a perfect Wing-T quarterback, but Webster is playing in the NFL at cornerback.

Corey Webster is the only St. James quarterback under Coach Gaille to run the shotgun version of the Wing-T, which is very similar to today's "Wildcat" formation.  No doubt, Webster would see lots of playing time on both offense and defense of this St. James team.

The dream backfield of Kerry Levet, Luther Ambrose, Elix Keller, and Chad Jasmin is one that should get a lot of Wildcat fans excited just reading this.  Could anyone imagine those four on the same team, at the same time, and all in their prime?  And then throw in Dennis at split end.

Coach Rod once said that Martin "Bull" Harry at middle linebacker delivered some of the hardest hits he ever seen in football.

Two sets of brothers made the first team.  Rydell and Jeremy Harry are brothers as are Luther Ambrose and Ricky Washington.

Two of these first teamers would go on to play in the NFL.  Corey Webster is currently playing in the NFL and Cory Geason played a few seasons after graduating from Tulane.
