DESTREHAN, LA (August 26, 2011) -- Senior Kenneth Armant provided one the game’s biggest plays for St. James when he took the opening kickoff through defenders all the way up to the 44-yard line.  Armant, however, would severely injure his right ankle on the play.  St. James then went backwards from that point.

Fundamental errors, with an emphasis on ball handling, haunted St. James throughout the entire Jamboree.

The St. James Wildcats made the trip to Destrehan for their annual Jamboree battle with the Hahnville Tigers.  Both teams were looking to improve after dismal scrimmages the week prior.

Shortly after the opening kickoff, a quick fumble gave Hahnville excellent field position.  The Wildcat defense was able to limit the Tigers to a 33-yard field goal.

Struggling with ball management, St. James handed Hahnville two more points with a safety just a few minutes later.

Hahnville got the ball back and drove deep into Wildcat territory but this time, the St. James defense stuffed Hahnville on a fourth-and-two.

St. James’ offense eventually was able to get a little drive going where there were fewer ball mishaps; however they were forced to punt.

Shortly before halftime, Hahnville put together a scoring drive ending with a 3-yard touchdown run.  The extra point made it a 12-0 Hahnville lead with 2:27 left in the first half.

Many at halftime were saying that as bad as that first half was, being down only 12-0 was pretty good for St. James.  In just three plays to open the second half, Hahnville would quickly stretch their lead by adding 14 additional points.

Hahnville took the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown.  After a touchback on the ensuing kickoff, St. James began from the 20-yard line.  A Hahnville defender drove untouched into the backfiend to force a fumble along with a “scoop-and-score” touchdown return.  The extra point extended the score to a 26-0 Hahnville lead..

Only three minutes later, Hahnville was back on the scoreboard after a 40-yard scoring pass.  That made it 33-0 with 11:45 left in the game.

Despite being down 33-0, there were still many players on the St. James defense playing hard.  Hahnville noticed and then took out their starters to avoid any unnecessary injuries.

With 2:58 left in the game, Wildcat quarterback Shaquille Narcisse rolled out and found a very wide open Larohn Cambree down the sideline to complete a 69-yard touchdown pass.  St. James went for two and converted when Junius Champagne took it around end and into the end zone.  This produced the game’s final score of 33-8.

St. James will begin the regular season this week at home when they take on the Rams of West St. John.  West St. John has defeated St. James two years in a row so a win here could be a huge confidence builder for St. James.
