DONALDSONVILLE, La. (Nov. 3, 2011) -- In a year which many St. James fans, players, and coaches would like to forget; the St. James Wildcats provided a ten-minute span of pride that will probably be talked about for many years to come.

Down 46-0 with 9:22 left in the third quarter in the final game of a winless season, St. James amazingly blasted away 34 points in the next ten minutes of the game to draw within 12.

The Wildcats then drove inside the ten yard line with a chance to draw within one score, but a turnover ended the run that can be described as nothing more than pure St. James heart and pride.

Such a comeback -- a Godly 46-point comeback -- was that close to actually happening.

Perhaps the only moment this season: All four St. James playing principals of Tradition, Honor, Discipline, and Excellence were present during the magical run.

St. James traveled up-river to take on Donaldsonville on a Thursday night in the final game of the 2011 season.

The first half of the game belonged solely to Donaldsonville.  The Tigers racked up six touchdowns in route to a 38-0 halftime lead.

At halftime, St. James assistant coaches Steven Moore and James Smith provided what was described as ‘an emotional speech for the ages,” to the football team.

The Tigers did take the first drive of the second half in for a touchdown to go up 46-0 lead with 9:22 left in the third quarter -- but that’s when St. James began to spark their run.

Then the Wildcats got going when Lester Verette sliced through the middle for a nine-yard scoring run.  Junius Champagne provided the two-point conversion to make it 46-8 with 8:32 left in the third quarter.

Four minutes later, quarterback Shaquille Narcisse hit Larohn Cambre in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown pass.  The Wildcats picked up another two-point conversion to make it 46-16.

Shortly before the end of the third quarter. St. James got another score and it would be the same combination of Narcisse to Cambre.  This time it was a 30-yard screen pass that Cambre took around defenders into the end zone.  Narcisse provided yet another two-point conversion to make it 46-24.

On the ensuing kickoff, St. James pinned Donaldsonville back inside their own five yard line.  One play later, Wildcat defenders caught the Tiger running back in the end zone for a safety to make it 46-26 as the third quarter expired.

After getting the ball back from the safety, St. James scored yet again when Lester Verret punched it in from three yards out.  Shaquille Narcisse punched it yet another two-point conversion.  With 11:15 left in the game, St. James now drew within 12 points at 46-34.

The Wildcats got the ball back and drove deep down field before ending with a turnover.

The Tigers scored another touchdown late but so did the Wildcats when Champagne scored on a 21-yard run.  The final score: 54-40.

Despite finishing the season with a 0-10 record, St. James players showed their fans just what can happen when the right elements come together.  Although their magical comeback attempt fell short, it was still a moment which will be remembered as the sole highlight of this 2011 season.
